It’s looking like a cold winter in the fashion capitals this year. 2019 has proven to be a snowy one at the couture shows in Paris, and in New York later this month it’s forecast to be sub-zero. Following Copenhagen’s turn on the AW19 shows schedule, Vogue checks out how the street style set chose to combat the freezing temperatures there.

From January 29 to February 1, Copenhagen Fashion Week delivered a masterclass in winter-ready, easy elegance. After all, the Scandi It girls are known for their laid-back – yet exceptionally functional – approach to fashion. Where else do you get influencers cycling between shows and pairing hiking boots with floaty dresses?

On the catwalk, internationally renowned and highly sought-after brands unveiled their latest collections. Highlights included Cecilie Bahnsen’s sculptural styles, Stine Goya’s colourful designs, By Malene Birger’s cool classics and the ever-wearable Ganni. Newcomer Rotate Birger Christensen, set up by influencers Thora Valdimars and Jeanette Friis Madsen just last year, was another hotly anticipated show.

Vogue’s roving photographer Søren Jepsen was in the Danish capital to capture the best street style moments.
